The Omnibus Wind Ensemble

The Omnibus Wind Ensemble is one of Sweden's most popular chamber ensembles and, since its formation in 1981, it has received wide renown both at home and abroad. Throughout the years The Omnibus Wind Ensemble has been on tour to Norway, Germany, Switzerland and the USA among other countries.
Their key to success, apart from their unconventional choice of repertoire, lies in the stage presence and contact with the public which flows through their concerts. The fact that the musicians often play without sheet music also helps to create close contact with the audience. The group's performance is based on originality, both in their own arrangements and in commissioned works, an in collaboration with performers from many different genres. The main emphasis lies with classical music.

Looking at their choice of repertoire, it is no surprise that the motto of the ensemble has, for a long time, been "From Mozart to Zappa" -also the title of their first CD. In 1994 they released yet another, "Music by Frank Zappa", containing Zappa's music arranged for acoustic instruments. The latest album "Opera Pearls" arrived in autumn 1997.
"If, you're ever in a place where you can hear this group perform, please do.
It is a unique concert experience". Frank Battisti, musikrecensent, Chicago
"The CD ´Music by Frank Zappa´ would certainly have pleased Frank Zappa.
And made him proud too. He wanted to be taken seriously, and he is here".
Dagens Industri
"The Omnibus Wind Ensemble produces tones threaded together as if on a pearl neck axe, every quaver, semi quaver, right down to the very hemi demisemiquaver, is played to perfection". Svenska Dagbladet
